Movie magazine style models

Movie poster style model

After discovering this movie poster I decided that this would fit perfectly with the genre of my trailer as it has a sense of suspicion and angst which are an important aspect of my trailer. Due to this i based my movie poster solely on this style model as i feel it was the perfect match to advertise my film.

Involving modern technology/social networks

My target audience for my trailer is aimed at people between the varied ages of 15 to 25, due to this i included Facebook and Twitter as social networking is recently at the height of popularity and is used by many people all over the world 24/7. This means that people can access these Facebook or Twitter accounts and anytime, so using these social networks gain more advertisements everywhere.

The music

The music in my trailer was made by me, on garageband. This took alot of time and alot of re-drafting and re-editing was performed to get my music perfectly as i intended

Using iMovie

Using iMovie has been very beneficial to me in the process of making my film trailer as it has helped me achieve high quality standards of editing for my work. Throughout using iMovie i feel my editing skills have massively progressed as i am now very familiar with the software.

Film title font

In my film trailer I used the imovie font "Gaz" but unfortunately due to no accessibility of that font anywhere but imovie I was not able to use it in my ancillary tasks like i had originally intended, therefore I had to use another font that was available in photoshop. I kept to the red colour scheme of the title in order to make them look similar to one another.

- Trailer font "Gaz".

- Ancillary tasks font "Capitals".

Conventions of a movie magazine

  • Masthead - The masthead is usually positioned at the top left corner of the page, and is usually the largest text on the page.
  • Image - The imagine on the front page should be a large, mid-shot image that would be interesting to the target audience so it catches their eye, enticing them to take notice in the magazine.
  • Fonts - There are normally a range of fonts used to show variety, usually no less than 3 different. They would all be different sizes, colours, styles and capitals.
  • Buzz words - Words like "free" or "exclusive" are used to entice the audience and draw them into buying the magazine.
  • Anchorage text - Text which explains the story of what the main image represents.
  • Banner - Used on the front page of the magazine to show the contents of the magazine

Filming a fire

Today I shot the scene with a fire that I wanted. I had planned ahead by booking this date with everyone who needed to be involved to help supervise such as the deputy head of the school, the school caretaker and before starting the fire we had a health and safety officer inspect the area and equipment to make sure it was safe to light the fire. We also booked a day that was in the school holidays therefore no children would be present in the school whilst the fire was lit.

Previous music idea

In the early stages of creating my trailer i used this music which is from The Twilight Saga - Part Two teaser trailer. But i then decided to change my music as it is an already very popular, well-known piece of music due to the popularity of the film.

Magazine cover photo

For my magazine front cover image I organised a few hours with my actors so I could take some photos of them, I planned it with them in advance so that for one, they could all attend the photoshoot with no problems and also so that alot of effort could go into the costume, hair and makeup.

Age certificate

I wanted my film's audience to be between the ages of 15 and 25 as it could be viewed by a wide range of people. Plus the actors are only teenagers so this means teenage viewers would be more interested in the film. Below is some guidelines and limitations of a film with a 15 age certificate.
